I love digital music production. Here’s a handful of the front-runners for 2015 music production. The first few are fun lil’ mobile apps and then we get into the big toys.
Keezy is a free music production app for mobile devices and it simple, free, and fun. I downloaded it and its a simple way to try stuff out. As basic as it gets though and thats the point. Here’s a video of a big bad-ass beatboxer (Reggie Watts) in a tiny home showing you what it does:
This little keyboard may look like a neat little vintage toy from Urban Outfitters but don’t let its modest looks fool you. This portable $849 synthesizer from TeenageEngineering isn’t messing around. No need for a computer, speakers, or power. Charge it and play it anywhere.
Ableton Live 9
Ableton is a beast. My DAW of choice. Used by Daft Punk, Diplo, Deadmau5, and Skrillex its got a great workflow that keeps it technical but still intuitive. Its session mode combined with the Ableton Push is a game changer.
If you’ve got a good video showcasing Logic Pro and a site with an embed code. Add a link to the comments and I’ll add it in.
I love the Push. If your using Ableton you should already have this. It’s everything that Ableton offers put in an extremely flexible and well thought out instrument ready to produce or play live.
Machine is currently the crowning achievement of Native Instruments. Not a DAW, more so a collection of all the primary plugins and sounds that NI offers and the hardware to put it all together. Very similar to the Ableton/Push combination.
